Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Working hours: 06.00-15.00. 20 shifts per month, Monday to Sunday, 8h per shift with 2 days off per week

We’re on the lookout for a proactive Waste Operative to join our friendly Estate team. You’ll be right at the heart of our sustainability efforts—helping to sort, process, and improve recycling across the site. If you're someone who takes pride in keeping spaces clean and safe, and you’ve got a “can-do” attitude, this could be the perfect role for you.

Responsibilities:

• Waste Segregation: Supervise and process waste taken to the loading bay, ensuring proper segregation in line with site recycling protocols.
• Manual Sorting: Hand-sort materials and identify opportunities to divert items from general waste into appropriate recycling streams
• Recycling Improvement: Promote and increase recycling rates through source segregation and proactive identification of miscategorised waste
• Cleanliness & Safety: Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe waste area at all times to promote hygiene and prevent hazards
• Contamination Reporting: Identify contamination in recycling or waste streams and trace its origin to inform corrective feedback via Supervisor
• Bin Management: Ensure the correct use of bins, re-stock waste rooms with empty bins as needed
• Ad Hoc Waste Requests: Request collections for special waste types (e.g. IT/WEEE waste, bulky waste) as required
• Coordination with Drivers: Liaise with Recorra’s drivers team to ensure timely and accurate waste collections and create good relationships
• Regular bins cleaning duties
• Other duties as needed as directed from Management

About You:

• Valid UK driving licence (essential)
• Good knowledge of English Language (essential)
• Ability to work on rota basis Monday to Sunday (essential)
• Previous experience in waste management or facilities services (preferred but not essential)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Good communication and team coordination skills
• Physical fitness and ability to lift/move waste bins and heavy materials safely
• Can do attitude
• Able to be calm under pressure
