Recycling Operative
Job Title: Recycling Operative
Location: 38/39 Juliette Way, Purfleet Industrial Park, Purfleet RM15 4YA
Salary: £13.45 per hour + £100 Monthly Attendance Bonus
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Working Hours: 7.30am-4pm Mon-Fri
The Company:
Recorra is a leading circular economy company, providing services for recycling, data destruction and office supplies in London and the South East. We are born environmentalists, formed by Friends of the Earth in 1988 and now operating as an independent commercial organisation.
We are an ethical and fast-growing company with a team of exceptional people and are looking for someone to join us during an exciting period of change and growth. The role provides the opportunity for you to use your skills to make a difference within a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking company. The culture is energetic, and there will be many opportunities for you to make a substantial contribution to the business.
The Role:
Are you a self-motivated, hands-on Recycling Operative looking for your next challenge? Are you keen to work in a busy and dynamic environment where your contribution is recognised and rewarded? If that's a yes, then we want to hear from you!
We're looking for a new team member to join our IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) department at our Purfleet recycling facility. This is a practical, hands-on role focused on sorting and processing a variety of recyclable materials and equipment, with battery and vape sorting forming an important part of your day-to-day responsibilities.
You'll be responsible for sorting, separating and processing incoming materials, identifying items for recycling or reuse, and helping to keep the department organised and running efficiently.
You don't need to be an IT expert. We're looking for someone who is comfortable in a hands-on recycling or warehouse environment, has good attention to detail and is happy undertaking physical work as part of a small team.
Responsibilities:
Sorting and separating batteries for recycling
Sorting and dismantling vapes
Manual handling of equipment and materials
Separating materials for precious metal recovery
Accurately logging and recording equipment and materials as they move through the process
Identifying and separating items suitable for reuse
Organising and shrink-wrapping stock on pallets
General housekeeping and warehouse duties
About you:
Strong attention to detail while processing materials efficiently
Able to prioritise workloads and manage your time effectively to meet daily processing targets
Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Comfortable working in a hands-on recycling, warehouse or industrial environment
Able to undertake the physical demands of a manual handling role
A positive attitude and the ability to work as part of a small team
Previous recycling or warehouse experience would be useful, but isn't essential
Benefits:
20 days' annual leave (additional days for length of service) plus bank holidays
Employee pension scheme
Travel season ticket loan
Cycle to work scheme
Employee Assistance Programme
Health Cash Plan
On-site Parking
Things to Consider
You must successfully complete our employee vetting process, including a DBS check and providing a five-year employment, education and address history. Periods of education, unemployment or Jobcentre registration are acceptable.
We are part of a larger recycling facility, so this is a very different environment from general warehousing. You will be expected to work within the ITAD unit, which can be dusty at times and cold during the winter months.
This is a physically demanding role and will require regular manual handling as part of your day-to-day responsibilities. Recorra takes health and safety very seriously and provides regular training and toolbox talks covering best practice for manual handling and warehouse operations.
Please Note:
Candidates must have the legal right to live and work in the UK to be considered for this role.
